In-Progress - 1st Panel covering period from 1900 to 1939

Welcome to Leading The Way: A Tribute To Women Of The 20th Century

The Story of the World is often seen through the triumphs and defeats of men. Leading the Way: A Tribute to Women of the 20th Century is a painting triptych that seeks to contribute a fresh perspective on our collective History and Humanity.

Transcending all barriers -- cultural, racial, political, social and economic -- this project was conceived as a homage to women and to bring greater awareness of their fundamental contribution to Humanity worldwide.

My main objective was to compose a group portrait of historical significance. In selecting women of the 20th Century from around the world and from different fields of pursuit and professions, I created a powerful visual record of their extraordinary accomplishments during the last century. Because they have never been visualized together, this project brings a unique amalgam of genius and talent that has poured forth from 20th Century females into artistic form, and bears witness to their pioneering strength, their spirit and their leadership.

Although you will not be able to view it there, the painting will be shown at the United Nations Headquarters this February for the 50th Anniversary of the Commission on the Status of Women.

Keep in touch Nanny Molly for more exciting happenings around this painting.

Congratulations to you on this historical undertaking. I don't think there been a contemporary project like this which includes so many across time into a unified painting format. I will watch for updates.
